What are Padma Awards?

The Padma Awards are a set of civilian honors in India, presented annually by the President of India. These awards were established in 1954 to recognize and honor exceptional service and achievements in various fields. There are three categories of Padma Awards:

Padma Vibhushan: This is the highest civilian award and is given for exceptional and distinguished service in any field, including public service, science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports, and arts.

Padma Bhushan: The second-highest civilian award, the Padma Bhushan, is awarded for distinguished service of a high order in any field.

Padma Shri: The Padma Shri is the third-highest civilian award and is given for distinguished service in any field. It recognizes contributions in various disciplines, including art, literature, education, medicine, social work, sports, and public affairs.
